Who is the Swallows mailing list for?
Members will be those people who actively participate in their healing process and who take personal responsibility for their own health and wellness.

This list is intended for people who are directly involved with breast cancer. Although much of the information may be relevant to people with other cancers, in the interest of manageability, the active discussion of other cancers is not appropriate.
This may be an uncomfortable place from time to time - in the interests of being well-informed, the negative and side effects of treatments, both short and long term may be openly discussed; this could cause concern or confusion to people using those treatments. Remember that we are all individuals, and that experiences vary from one person to another. It is most important that you follow the treatment that feels right for you as an individual.
The mailing list does not offer or take the place of medical guidance. Always discuss your proposed treatment plan with an appropriately qualified practitioner.
How to subscribe to the Swallows Complementary Therapies for BC mailing list:
If you agree to follow the above guidelines, then you may go the LISTSERV web page at http://tx.technion.ac.il/archives/swallows-l.html, where you can choose your subscription options.
You can also subscribe by email, by sending a message to
LISTSERV@TECHUNIX.TECHNION.AC.IL
with the subject line blank and the command
SUBSCRIBE SWALLOWS-L Your Name
as the body of the message, replacing Your Name with your own name. If you are unfamiliar with LISTSERV and its associated commands, I suggest that you add the commands
INFO GENINTRO
INFO REFCARD
as additional lines of the message. LISTSERV will then send you a file containing a General Introduction that will give you some instructions on the service and a Quick Reference Card of the various commands.
Because LISTSERV verfiies mailing paths for new subscribers, it is preferred that users subscribe themselves using one of the methods outlined above, but if you have any problems, or these instructions don't make sense, do please email the list administrator at SWALLOWS-L-request@techunix.technion.ac.il , and we will be able to help you to join the list, or give you more information.

How to stop receiving mail temporarily
If you want to turn off receipt of messages for a while (for instance, because you are going on holiday), the best thing to do is to go NOMAIL. This means you are still a member of the list (and can view the archives etc) but messages will not be sent to your mailbox.
send a mail message to
LISTSERV@TECHUNIX.TECHNION.AC.IL
with the subject line blank, and in the text of the message type
SET SWALLOWS-L NOMAIL
When you want to receive messages again, send a message to the same addess with the command
SET SWALLOWS-L MAIL
